Canada and India are moving to strengthen their economic and financial partnership, with Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and Canadian Finance Minister François-Philippe Champagne engaging with senior representatives from a broad range of industries.
The joint engagements brought together leaders from Canada’s financial services, FinTech, technology, artificial intelligence, infrastructure, and energy and natural resources sectors. Discussions focused on shared priorities and opportunities to encourage long-term economic growth while expanding collaboration between businesses, financial institutions and other stakeholders in both countries.
The talks underscored the growing importance of closer Canada-India economic ties at a time when both economies are seeking new opportunities for investment, innovation and sustainable growth. Greater cooperation in emerging areas such as artificial intelligence and FinTech, alongside traditional sectors including infrastructure and energy, could create new avenues for businesses and investors in both markets.
Both ministers reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral economic and financial relations through regular dialogue and practical cooperation. The emphasis on concrete initiatives and tangible outcomes signals an effort to translate discussions into meaningful opportunities for businesses and other stakeholders.
Looking ahead, Canada and India welcomed the next Economic and Financial Dialogue, scheduled to take place in 2027, providing another platform to build on the progress made and further advance their shared economic priorities.
