ZEE5 Global, the world’s leading streaming platform for South Asian content, will stream ‘Jai’, the much-talked-about Kannada-Tulu film, from February 6. Celebrated for its grassroots storytelling and socio-cultural resonance, ‘Jai’ marks a notable arrival on ZEE5 Global’s slate, especially as it becomes the first ever Tulu film to premiere on the platform, alongside its Kannada version.
Directed by Roopesh Shetty, who also stars in the film, Jai blends drama, action, humour and socio-political commentary into a cinematic narrative rooted deeply in coastal Karnataka’s cultural fabric. The story follows Satya, a young man from Simhabettu village whose awakening to community issues propels him from local politics into a broader fight for his people’s welfare, balancing topical themes with engaging character moments.
Jai features a powerful ensemble cast including Roopesh Shetty, Raj Deepak Shetty, Adhvithi Shetty, Aravind Bolar, Devadas Kapikad, Naveen D Padil, Bhojaraj Vamanjoor and many beloved regional performers. The film also includes a Bollywood icon Suniel Shetty, marking his debut in Tulu cinema.
Having made a strong mark in theatres with record-breaking screenings in both Kannada and Tulu, Jai was celebrated for its authentic portrayal of village life and spirited performances a film that brought together humour, heart, and community ethos. It set a notable precedent for language cross-appeal, registering hundreds of showings and strong audience engagement in coastal regions and beyond.
Roopesh Shetty Director & Lead Actor of the film said, “Jai comes from a very personal space. It is rooted in the soil, language, humour, and anger of coastal Karnataka. We made this film for people who see themselves on screen, their villages, their politics, their everyday struggles. Bringing Jai to ZEE5 Global in both Kannada and Tulu feels like the story has finally found the reach it deserves, especially for Tulu audiences who rarely see their language represented on major platforms.”
Suniel Shetty who debuted in the Tulu industry with this film says, “When I agreed to be part of Jai, it wasn’t about the scale or the screen time. It was about the honesty of the film. Tulu cinema carries a rawness and cultural pride that is rarely seen nationally. I’m glad that Jai will now reach a wider audience through ZEE5 Global, this is how regional voices truly travel beyond borders.”
With Jai streaming from February 6 in both Kannada and Tulu, ZEE5 Global continues its commitment to celebrate and elevate regional cinema, bringing diverse linguistic voices and powerful storytelling to audiences across India and beyond.
Jai will stream from February 6th on Zee5 Global
