This Canada Day, Mississauga is the place to be! Mississauga Celebration Square (MCS) has a jam-packed event in store for people of all ages to enjoy and celebrate Canada’s 156th birthday.
This year’s entertainment line-up features Canadian artists and a variety of activities. Cool off in the City’s largest outdoor fountain, enjoy roaming entertainers and snap a photo for the ‘gram with Peppa Pig, Bluey and Care Bears. Camp Canuck is back featuring a giant, interactive mural for the young Picassos of the future to unleash their creative side. You’ll want to save your appetite, as there will be a number of mouth-watering food truck vendors to keep your stomach happy all-day long.
To kick off the evening festivities, a ceremony will include greetings from Mayor Bonnie Crombie, Members of Council and special guests. The City’s Youth Poet Laureate, Lisa Shen, will perform one of her poems from the main stage. Event attendees are invited to re-confirm their Canadian Citizenship through a reaffirmation oath reading.
Co-hosts Emily Agard and Akil Augustine will keep you in the Canadian frame-of-mind all day long and the main stage will have you dancing and moving with the best in Canadian music, including Canadian favourite Jamie Fine and an unforgettable performance by headlining pop-sensation Faouzia. The show ends with a bang featuring a spectacular fireworks finale at 10 p.m.
