On Thursday, September 8, the City of Brampton and Great Gulf unveiled Great Gulf Cricket Pitch at Teramoto Park. On April 6, 2022, Brampton City Council approved that the naming rights of Teramoto Cricket Pitch be renamed to Great Gulf Cricket Pitch at Teramoto Park for a term of three years.

The City of Brampton is a leader in the GTA in supporting cricket and we are proud of this partnership with Great Gulf,” said Mayor Patrick Brown. “Partnerships such as these help to maintain and update recreational spaces in our community. Great Gulf has been a wonderful partner and we appreciate their continued investment in the City of Brampton.”

The funding received through the naming rights will cover the costs of maintenance operations for the cricket pitch. The pitch underwent significant renovations in 2019 which included: lighting, digital score clock specific to the sport of cricket and all-new cricket screens.

The City of Brampton is a leader in supporting the sport of cricket, with the most pitches per capita in the GTA. Brampton is currently home to 18 cricket pitches, two of which are lit and allow for nighttime play. Cricket is a hugely popular sport within Brampton and demand for playing time continues to grow.

“Great Gulf is committed to supporting the communities where we build and is delighted to partner with the City of Brampton for the unveiling of the Great Gulf Cricket Pitch at Teramoto Park,” said Kathleen Schofield, President Low Rise Residential, Great Gulf. “We are proud to be a long-standing community developer and home builder in the city and believe that all residents and their families should have access to the use and enjoyment of recreational spaces.”

Brampton City Council adopted a citywide sponsorship strategy and an updated Sponsorship and Naming Rights Policy in March 2019. The citywide sponsorship and naming rights program offers customized opportunities for businesses to connect with the community, creating enhanced experiences for residents.
