Spain is second largest country of Europe after France. Spain is located in south Western Europe on the Iberian Peninsula. Due to its location, Spain was affected a lot with external influences. Because of historical influences, Spain has rich culture. Spain is famous for its historical background especially for Islamic heritage. Its different kingdoms have different languages, culture, cuisine, and art, which give Spain a rich culture and uniqueness. If you visit different regions of Spain, you will explore different things about every region.
Languages:
Nationwide Spanish is official language. Other languages with Spanish are Basque, Catalan, and Galician. These languages are co-official languages. Some other languages are spoken in Spain but due to less numbers of speakers they are not official languages.
Religion:
According to State Constitution of Spain no religion shall have a state character. Mostly people are followers of Roman Catholicism. According to survey 76% people follow catholic religion, 2% people belong to other religions and 19% people are those who do not follow any religion. Islam is second largest religion in Spain which has large number of followers 2.3% of all population.
Culture:
Due to its rich history, Spain has colors of different cultures like Iberian, Celtiberian, Latin, Roman, Catholic and Islamic cultures.
Art:
Spain has very influential art due to its historical background in Europe.
Architecture:
As we know that Spain has rich background which gives its architecture different colors. You will find here from roman architectural infrastructure to Arabic style architecture due to Islamic influence. You can find here buildings with modern architectural design.
Cuisines:
Spain has number of different cuisines because of culture and history. As Spain is surrounded with Sea, the seafood is key food in Spain.
Beaches:
Quite and beautiful beaches are found near Malaga, Huelva, and Almeria in the south as well as near the coasts of La Manga, Galicia, Asturias, Cantabria and Euskadi. There are plenty of well developed resorts as well.
Due to Spain’s rich culture, history and art, Spain is worth to see. Spanish people are friendly, communicative and open hearted which will give you opportunity to mingle with Spanish people especially in big cities like Madrid and Barcelona.
