Mayor John Tory announced that Team Toronto’s vaccination efforts have reached two new milestones: administering more than 7.1 million COVID-19 vaccine doses in Toronto since the City of Toronto’s COVID-19 vaccination campaign started in December 2020 and two thirds (66 per cent) of eligible Toronto residents age 18 and older have received their third dose.

As of May 26, more than 89.7 per cent of residents five years of age and older have received the first dose, while 86.3 per cent have gotten two doses. Vaccination coverage to date can be found on the City’s COVID-19: Vaccine Data webpage and is updated on Fridays.

Toronto Public Health (TPH) continues to work hard with Team Toronto partners to bring vaccine to residents so that they can stay up-to-date with their COVID-19 vaccination doses.

This weekend, TPH has partnered with Doors Open Toronto to host COVID-19 vaccination clinics for residents attending this annual event taking place from Saturday, May 28 to Sunday, May 29. The clinics are part of Team Toronto’s ongoing hyper-local, equity-focused vaccination strategy to ensure COVID-19 vaccines remain as accessible as possible, with opportunities to get vaccinated where residents live, work and play. The clinics will provide COVID-19 vaccines on a walk-in basis with no health card required. Pfizer, Moderna and Pfizer paediatric vaccines will be available. More information, including clinic locations and hours of operations, are available in this City-issued news release.

First, second, third and fourth doses are also available by appointment or walk-in across the five City immunization clinics. Residents can also get their doses at more than 525 local pharmacies that are offering the COVID-19 vaccine, Indigenous-led vaccination clinics, select primary care offices and other Team Toronto health care partner clinics. More information is available on the City’s COVID-19: Where to Get Vaccinated webpage.

TPH encourages residents to stay up to date with their COVID-19 immunization, including all booster doses (third and fourth doses), for the best protection against serious illness linked to this virus. Recent data show that residents who kept up to date with their vaccinations were better protected against serious consequences linked to the virus, when compared to those who were unvaccinated or under vaccinated.

As COVID-19 continues to circulate in the community, residents are encouraged to practice public health measures including getting vaccinated, wearing a high quality, well-fitting mask, especially indoors and based on the setting and situation, and staying home if feeling unwell. More information is available on the City’s COVID-19: Reduce Virus Spread Guide webpage.

Quotes:

“Two thirds of eligible Toronto residents now have their third dose of COVID-19 vaccine and Team Toronto has now delivered more than 7.1 million doses. These are two more great milestones in our work to help people get vaccinated across the city so they have the best protection possible against this virus. Thank you to Team Toronto for your ongoing work, it is protecting the progress we are making and will ensure our city comes back stronger than ever. Thank you as well to all residents who keep stepping forward to get vaccinated for the first time or to make sure their doses are up to date.”
– Mayor John Tory

“Thanks to all the hard work of our Toronto Public Health and Team Toronto partners, we continue to ensure that COVID-19 vaccines remain as convenient and accessible as possible. Thank you to the millions of residents who continue to play such an important role in protecting our community by staying up-to-date with their vaccinations.”
– Dr. Eileen de Villa, Medical Officer of Health
