6th Assembly of International Solar Alliance Assembly decides to increase Viability Gap Funding Cap for solar projects from 10% to 35% of project cost

The Sixth Assembly of the International Solar Alliance (ISA) was hosted at Bharat Mandapam, in New Delhi today, October 31, 2023 and was presided over by the Union Minister for Power and New & Renewable Energy, Government of India, Shri R. K. Singh in his capacity as the President of the ISA Assembly. Ministers from 20 countries and delegates from across 116 Member and Signatory countries participated in the Assembly.

During the assembly, it was decided to increase the Viability Gap Funding Cap for solar projects from 10% to 35% of the project cost. Several projects funded by ISA were inaugurated, bringing solar energy to various countries. The assembly discussed the importance of energy access and transition and how successful practices from India can be shared with developing countries. The assembly emphasized the significance of green funds from developed countries as per their COP21 commitments. It also highlighted the need to accelerate the development of solar energy, especially in developing countries. The International Solar Alliance aims to promote solar energy as a sustainable energy source and address global energy challenges.
