The Pan Am Centre, Markham’s premier sports complex, is pleased to be hosting the upcoming World Aquatics Artistic Swimming (formerly known as synchronized swimming) World Cup happening from March 16 to 18. The international event will see the best artistic swimmers from 23 countries, including Canada, perform and compete in 11 events as they begin their journey towards Paris 2024.
“Since its creation for the 2015 Pan American and ParaPan American Games, Markham’s Pan Am Centre has become known as a world-class facility consistently chosen to host international sport events,” says Markham Mayor, Frank Scarpitti. “The City of Markham is proud to, not only continually be a major sports destination, but also of the rich sporting heritage and culture that is being cultivated in Markham.”
Canada is the only nation that has hosted an edition of the World Cup every year since its inception in 2017 (including two innovative virtual versions in 2021 and 2022) and Markham is proud to continue this legacy in 2023. The event at the Pan Am Centre will be the first in the three-stop World Cup series that includes competitions in Cairo, Egypt and Montpellier, France.
Team Canada has been hard at work preparing new routines since the 2022 World Championships in Budapest. The team will be in Markham to open up the competition season that will culminate next fall with the 2023 Pan Am Games in Santiago, Chile.

The public is invited to purchase tickets to view elite athletes perform from 23 countries, including Team Canada.
