#DOT26: The World in a City

Every spring, Toronto throws open its doors—literally and figuratively—to remind residents and visitors why it remains one of the world’s most dynamic, diverse, and architecturally rich cities. This weekend, Doors Open Toronto returns, offering free access to more than 160 buildings, landmarks, and public spaces across the city. This year’s theme, “The World in a City,” feels especially fitting for a metropolis shaped by global cultures and local stories.

From 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on May 23 and 24, Torontonians are invited to wander through spaces they may pass daily but rarely get to explore. Heritage sites, modern marvels, civic institutions, and hidden neighbourhood gems will all be on display. Some locations will host guided neighbourhood tours and curated “Doors Open Talks,” adding depth and context to the experience. As always, the event remains free—an intentional gesture that reinforces the city’s commitment to accessibility and community engagement.

Beyond logistics, Doors Open Toronto is a reminder of what makes this city extraordinary. Toronto is home to more than three million people whose histories, languages, and lived experiences shape its neighbourhoods and fuel its cultural and economic vitality. As an Official Host City for the FIFA World Cup 2026™, and as North America’s fourth‑largest city, Toronto continues to stand at the forefront of innovation, arts, climate action, and global connectivity.

Events like this one underscore that leadership. They invite us to step inside the buildings that hold our collective memory, to see our city from new angles, and to appreciate the architecture—both physical and social—that binds us together.

Come in. Look around. This city is yours!

Guided Neighborhood Tours and Doors Open Talks details are available on the City’s Doors Open event microsite. Advance registration is required.

More information and updates are available on Facebook, (opens in new window) on X (opens in new window) and on Instagram.

Information about TTC and GO Transit services throughout the weekend are available on the TTC (opens in new window) and GO Transit (opens in new window) websites.
