The prestigious MICHELIN Guide Toronto and Region has just released its 2024 picks, and two Mississauga restaurants made the list. Marking the guide’s third year in Toronto, this year the MICHELIN Guide has expanded the selection territory to include restaurants from across the region and Province of Ontario.

Guru Lukshmi Authentic South Indian Restaurant was added on the Bib Gourmand restaurants list which recognises diverse cuisines and dining styles that provide excellent value for money while maintaining MICHELIN’s rigorous standards for hospitality and culinary craftsmanship. The purely vegetarian restaurant located in north Mississauga serves true flavours of South Indian home cooked food, specialising is many varieties of dosa.

Next on the list, located in downtown Mississauga, Tamarind Modern Indian Bistro also got a mention as a 2024 MICHELIN Recommended restaurant. MICHELIN Recommended means a restaurant has been recognised by the MICHELIN Guide for serving food to a high level but hasn’t yet been awarded.

A delicious meal on a green plate.

“I’m thrilled to see two of our outstanding restaurants receive this very prestigious recognition,” said Mayor Carolyn Parrish. “Congratulations to both – I look forward to visiting these establishments soon. We are truly fortunate that our diverse population brings with it tastes from around the world, and we have the unique opportunity to get out and try them all. Mississauga is a great place to visit.”

Mississauga is a must-visit spot for foodies, boasting a food scene with more than 2,000 local restaurants, representing authentic cuisines and regional fares from over 150 countries around the world.

“Sending a big congratulations to Guru Lukshmi and Tamarind Modern Indian Bistro,” said Victoria Clarke, CEO, Visit Mississauga. “These two restaurants are excellent examples of the many outstanding hidden gems we have throughout the city, offering global authentic cuisine. The diverse food scene in Mississauga is deserving of this world-class recognition, and is a part of what makes our city so vibrant. I hope that this is just the beginning of many more world-class mentions to come.  I encourage and welcome everyone to come check out these two local hotspots and explore all the amazing flavour Mississauga has to offer!”
