First-ever Canadian performance by Bollywood singer Jyotica Tangri (singer of “Pallo Latke”) at Mississauga Festival
#BollywoodMonster Mashup, the heart of Bollywood music & dance and food in Canada, is returning to Mississauga Celebration Square with two free #BollywoodMonster Concerts, a light show, mouth-watering food, and family activities. Audiences will enjoy free live performances by major stars at the #BollywoodMonster Concerts, including Jyotica Tangri, known for chart-toppers like “Mungda” from the film Total Dhamaal and “Pallo Latke” from the film Shaadi Mein Zaroor Aana. Joining her is Nirali Fozdar, a popular Garba singer and recent addition to the festival lineup, who was a finalist on Season 4 of Indian Idol. Both singers will be making their first-ever Canadian performance at the festival.
“This year’s festival gives audiences the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to experience a live performance by the voice behind hits like ‘Mungda’ and ‘Pallo Latke,’ Jyotica Tangri, along with an original set of Bollywood x Caribbean music mashups by the #BollywoodMonster Orchestra.” says festival Executive Director Vikas Kohli. “I’m excited to see the audience dance to Bollywood, Reggae, Soca and Dancehall fusion music while enjoying delicious South Asian street food favourites from 45+ vendors served hot and fresh. Phir bhi dil hai Bollywoodstani” (translation: “My heart is still Bollywood”).
The two-day #BollywoodMonster Concerts will showcase performances infused with Indo-Caribbean beats, Sufi, Kollywood and rock, along with popular Bollywood folk and traditional dances. On Fri July 25 and Sat July 26, DDA Canada promises to deliver a high-energy Bollywood dance tribute packed with nostalgic hits and unforgettable entertainment. Naach for Fun will perform a high-energy fusion of Bollywood, Indo-Caribbean beats, and iconic tracks by Raghav, Culture Shock, M.I.A., and Sean Paul, celebrating global South Asian artistry. Spicy Vindaloos will bring a Bollywood film to life in five minutes, fusing Bollywood with global styles in a cinematic celebration of Indian culture. And Kalakaar Collective brought to you by OLG will present an energetic Bollywood x Sufi set with a 10-piece band.
Also taking the stage is the #BollywoodMonster Orchestra, an original music production created by the festival team featuring Bollywood songs mashed up with popular Caribbean hits. Audiences can expect to dance to mashups such as “Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya” x “Murder She Wrote” by Chaka Demus & Pliers and “Deewangi Deewangi” from the film Om Shanti Om x “Jump in the Line” by Harry Belafonte.
The #BollywoodMonster Main Stage will be emceed by former “Saath Nibhaana Saathiya” actress Uppekha, Manny Fresh and popular beauty & lifestyle influencer Shruti (@shrutislookbook). Fans of all ages can enjoy the performances, as this event offers accessible seating and a shaded Seniors Lounge brought to you by Amica Credit Mills.
