Toronto Public Health (TPH) is working with 13 Shoppers Drug Mart pharmacies in 10 Toronto neighbourhoods to provide more vaccination opportunities for people age 50 and older on Seniors’ Days. On Thursday, May 19 and Thursday, May 26, residents can get their third or fourth doses of COVID-19 vaccines at participating pharmacies on a walk-in basis with extended hours.

The 13 participating Shoppers Drug Mart clinics will offer residents convenient access to Pfizer and Moderna vaccines with no appointment or ID required. Clinic hours of operation are 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. at the following locations:

With Team Toronto’s hyper-local vaccination approach in mind, locations were chosen by TPH to broaden vaccine access in places that are part of Torontonians’ everyday lives, especially in neighbourhoods with lower vaccination coverage to date. TPH is continuing this work with other local pharmacies to bring vaccines to communities across Toronto.

Residents can also receive COVID-19 vaccines at City-run immunization clinics, pop-up clinics and primary care offices. More information about Team Toronto’s approach to increasing localized vaccination opportunities, outreach and efforts is available on the City’s COVID-19: City Immunization Strategies webpage

Shop And Vax clinics extended through May

As announced earlier this month, Team Toronto’s Shop And Vax hyper-local COVID-19 vaccination clinics have been extended through May. These are operating at the following shopping centres on a walk-in basis to provide first, second, third, fourth and paediatric doses to eligible residents:

  • Cloverdale Mall, 250 The East Mall
  • Dufferin Mall, 900 Dufferin St.
  • Eglinton Square Shopping Centre, 1 Eglinton Sq., Suite 203
  • Lawrence Allen Centre, 700 Lawrence Ave. W.
  • Scarborough Town Centre, 300 Borough Dr.
  • Stockyards, 1980 St. Clair Ave. W.
  • Woodbine Mall, 500 Rexdale Blvd.
  • Yonge Sheppard Centre, 2 Sheppard Ave. E.

More information about Shop And Vax is available on the City’s COVID-19: Pop-Up Immunization Clinics webpage

TPH continues to encourage residents to stay up-to-date with their COVID-19 immunization, including all booster doses (third and fourth doses) for the best protection against serious illness linked to this virus. Recent data shows residents who kept up-to-date with their vaccinations were better protected against serious consequences linked to the virus, when compared to those who were unvaccinated or under vaccinated.

Quotes:

“Team Toronto’s persistent efforts have resulted in our city having some of the highest vaccination rates across the country. Pharmacists and pharmacies have been an important part of Team Toronto throughout and this is one more way we’re working together to help residents get vaccinated. We know that vaccines are our best protection against serious illness as a result of COVID-19 and I encourage Toronto residents age 50 and older to take advantage of this fantastic opportunity to visit their local Shoppers Drug Mart to receive their next eligible dose of vaccine.”

– Mayor John Tory

“Vaccination is our best tool to protect us against serious illness and hospitalization due to COVID-19. These extended vaccination hours at local pharmacies will help to make it easier for residents age 50 years and above to stay up to date with the third and fourth vaccine doses through convenient times and locations across our city. Thank you to all of our Team Toronto partners for your continued hard work to protect our community from this virus.”

– Dr. Eileen de Villa, Medical Officer of Health

“Our network of pharmacists has played a vital role supporting the health and wellness of Canadians throughout the pandemic. While it may feel as though we’re rounding the corner on COVID-19, we know we need to remain vigilant. We are proud to support the City of Toronto’s continuing efforts to make vaccination convenient and accessible.”
– Jeff Leger, President of Shoppers Drug Mart
