The Brampton Board of Trade recently hosted its 2022 Business Excellence Awards Gala, where the City of Brampton received an award for Brampton Transit under the Smart Solutions category for its dedication and work to electrify its fleet.
Brampton Transit has made several notable achievements, including the Phase 1 launch of its Battery Electric Bus (BEB) trial as part of the Pan-Canadian BEB Demonstration and Integration Trial, Brampton City Council’s endorsement of a fully electrified new third transit facility and most recently, a financing arrangement with the Canada Infrastructure Bank (CIB), which will provide Brampton an up to $400M investment to support the purchase of up to 450 BEBs between now and 2027.
The Smart Solutions award recognizes organizations for achievement and excellence in digital transformation. Brampton Transit was recognized for responding to constant shifts in the field of transit, having researched, discovered and adopted new and innovative technologies in order to improve efficiency, provide value and ultimately evolve for the community.
